CSEA Conducts First in Series of Town Hall Meetings

Nearly 100 CSEA members from locals ands units all over Long Island converged at the region office in Commack for the first in a series of town hall meetings designed solicit member input on the goals, objectives, services, purpose and overall function of the union as its centennial anniversary approaches in the fall of 2010. Long Island Region Director Ron King and President Nick LaMorte moderated this open forum and facilitated a frank and candid discussion that encouraged members to offer their thoughts and suggestions. The two leaders pledged to give serious consideration to every idea so each member could help to formulate a future agenda. Three more town hall meetings are scheduled: The first at the Best Western East End in Riverhead on July 16; the second at the Holiday Inn in Westbury on August 6; and the last at the Hilton Long Island in Melville on August 19. Seating is limited so please call the Long Island region office at 631-462-0030 to register.

Who are the CSEA Local 865 Members?

We are union workers, who can and will join together to enjoy the clout which comes only from solidarity. We are civil service workers who share a common goal, which is to negotiate with our employers from a position of strength. We are workers who know that you have to belong to be strong.

All of our current wages, future raises, health insurance, benefits, and even the rules our members work under are the direct result of contracts that the CSEA has negotiated with employers. In fact, negotiating contracts is our number one priority.

The CSEA is proud that we are a grassroots union where the members themselves elect their officers, and where only members can serve on negotiating teams and vote to ratify contracts.

The CSEA also has a respected political action network to represent your interests before elected officials. As part of the Local 1000, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees , we belong to the most powerful International Union in the U.S.A.

To our members we say:

Get Involved !!
The more involved you are, the stronger we are, and the more rewarding your membership will be.
